Free vs. Paid Consultations: What’s the Difference?
Understanding Your Options for Legal Guidance at Gibson Law
When you’re facing a serious situation at work, it’s normal to have questions. What are your rights? What options do you have? Is it even worth pursuing? At Gibson Law, LLC, we offer two types of initial case assessments to help you find the right path forward. Here’s how they work, and what you can expect.
Free Case Assessment
Our free case assessment gives you a starting point. You’ll have a brief 10-15 minute call with a member of our team who will gather background information about your potential legal matter. That information is then reviewed by our attorneys. If they need more details, we’ll reach out for another short follow-up call and/or an e-mail request for documents or additional information.
Once our attorneys have the necessary information, they’ll determine whether your situation is something our firm can assist with. If we can take your case, we’ll reach back out to discuss our fee structure, answer your questions, and help you decide if you’d like to move forward. We offer both contingency fee arrangements (meaning we only get paid if we secure a monetary result for you) and hourly fee arrangements, depending on the nature of your case.
If we’re unable to assist, you’ll receive an email letting you know. We understand these issues are often urgent, so our team strives to provide a response within 24-48 business hours.
Paid Case Assessment ($400)
If you’re looking for a more in-depth discussion and tailored legal guidance, we offer a paid consultation with either Attorney Brad Gibson or Attorney Angela Gibson. This is a meeting conducted by phone or Zoom for up to 60 minutes where you’ll have the chance to speak directly with a seasoned employment attorney.
During this meeting, we’ll listen closely to understand your goals, your challenges, and what matters most to you. We’ll review the facts of your situation, provide an initial assessment, discuss the laws that apply, and talk through your options, risks, and potential strategies. This session is designed to give you clear direction and professional insight before deciding how to proceed.
A paid consultation includes:
- A consultation via phone or Zoom for up to 60 minutes with an employment attorney
- A discussion of the background and details of your situation
- An initial assessment of your unique legal needs
- Guidance on the laws that apply, risks, strategies, and available remedies
- Answers to your questions within our practice areas
A paid consultation does not include legal research, document drafting or revisions, formal document reviews, or contacting third parties. It also does not include appearances before courts or agencies. Those services are separate and would be discussed if you decide to retain our firm for ongoing representation.
Which Is Right for You?
If you need a quick screening to see whether we might be able to help with your employment issue, our free case assessment is the right place to start. It helps us determine if your matter fits within our practice and whether we can offer a contingency or hourly arrangement.
If you already know you want detailed legal advice, a deeper analysis of your options, or to begin building a clear strategy, a paid consultation provides that level of attention. It’s also a valuable choice if you want straightforward recommendations before deciding whether to take formal legal action.
At Gibson Law, LLC, we know how important these decisions are. That’s why we offer different ways to connect, all designed to give you the clarity and confidence you need to protect your future.
